I hate MTV.
It serves no purpose except to offer the lowest common denominator of trash entertainment, and along with late night VH1 is slowly eroding the cultural fabric of American society. Plus they don’t even show videos anymore.
But every once and awhile MTV actually tries. They do it with the sporadically airing TrueLife, and they did it with the second most recent incarnation of Real World, the Brooklyn season. Now it appears they are trying again with the latest Real World season: the politically tinged DC cast.
Apparently this most recent bunch of freakishly attractive petri dishes, and one virgin… READ. That’s right. They’re smart and have opinions about politics, and they aren’t afraid to scream these opinions directly into their roommates faces at close range for no good reason. Supposedly that’s what “keeping it real” means. Which brings me to episode 1.

With the amount of sports that I watch, I’ve seen this commercial an exorbitant amount of times. At first I thought it was a joke but I’m still waiting for the punchline. Until then, I would be remiss to not rant about the disgust that I feel when I see this aired. Not just with Taco Bell, Christine Dougherty and whoever else decides to participate in this idiocy. It makes me feel dirty that I live in a country where something like this is promoted.
